Plant Description
Zebra grass is a clump-forming grass characterized by horizontally banded foliage similar to that of M. s. ‘Strictus’ and M. s. ‘Puenktchen’. Unlike those two plants however, ‘Zebrinus’ has rounded clumps that frequently require support. It forms substantial foliage clumps that grow to 4 to 6 feet tall, although flower stalks that grow up to 2 feet above the foliage clump brings the total height of the plant to 6 to 8 feet tall when flowering. In late summer, the plant grows tiny pink/copper-tinted flowers that appear in tassel-like formation. These turn silvery white in the fall.
