This perennial member of the Aster family features dense clusters of purplish-red flowers. The upright plants can grow up to five feet tall. The New York Aster provides color for the garden in the fall. It blooms beginning in late summer and continues to flower into the fall. The purple flowers make a good accent to the changing colors of the tree leaves.
