Prairie flax grows to about 18 to 20 inches tall. It most commonly leans at an angle, although some plants may also stand straight up on rare occasions. The plant blooms pale blue flowers, each with five petals measuring about 1 to 1.5 inches across. Each stem of the plant produces several flowers that bloom from the bottom up. As the top flowers continue to bloom, the lower flowers begin producing seeds.

Instructions:
Blue Flax is best suited for planting in hot, sunny areas. In order to encourage repeated blooming in the fall, the plants should be trimmed back in midsummer. Blue Flax will require frequent watering while young, but will tolerate drought fairly well when established.
